Cross Country

Coed.  5-8th grades are eligible to participate
Cross Country, also known as endurance running.  This is a long distance running competition for students in grades 5th though 8th.  The courses are all over Fairfield County and are open country courses that sometimes involve rough terrain.  The courses may include grass, mud, woodlands, sand, and water.  Results are based on individual and team scores.

Our Lady of Fatima School participates in the Fairchester League.  This league is comprised of Private and Parochial Schools in Fairfield and Westchester Counties.

Cross Country is both a Fall and Spring Sport.  Runners can join one season or both.
Cross Country is an excellent sport to build endurance and conditioning. It allows for individual accomplishments as well as the camaraderie of team spirit.

The Fall season begins in early September with practices twice a week immediately following dismissal and continues through mid-November.

Practices consist of conditioning, drills and running a variety of courses through Wilton. The Fatima team competes in the Fairchester League, comprised of small private and/or parochial school located in lower Fairfield and Westchester counties, and against local park & recreation teams.

The team participates in 6-7 meets in each season which usually take place on Thursdays.

During the meets, 5th and 6th graders run a 1.5 mile race.   7th and 8th graders run a 2.2 mile race.

Awards by the League are given at the end of the season.

Participation in all practices and meets is not mandatory and concessions will be made for the demands of other sports.
