Tournament Rules

 TOURNAMENT RULES & REGULATIONS

1. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT GOAL! All coaches are responsible for the conduct of their team members and fans during the tournament. 

2. Teams are requested to arrive as a group at which time you will be directed to your room. Coaches are asked to remain in rooms with their team before and after each game. 

3. Coaches are asked to make sure that no valuables are left in the room during the game. 

4. In cases where two opposing teams have the same colored jerseys, the tournament committee will provide odd-setting jersey tops of one of the two teams. A coin toss will determine this selection.   

5. Warm-up basketballs and game balls will be provided. Please do not bring team basketballs or player’s personal basketballs into the gym. 

OFFICIAL GAME RULES:

1. This year the tournament will be single elimination with each team guaranteed two (2) games. If your team wins, they advance in the regular bracket and if your team loses they will play in a consolation game. 

2. Teams must be ready to play at assigned times. 

3. A ten (10) minute allowance will be granted beyond the scheduled starting time, otherwise forfeiture will be declared. 

4. No game will begin without five (5) roster players. 

5. Each team will be allowed FOUR (4) time-outs for the game {(2) 30 second time-outs and (2) full time-outs}. There will be no carry-over to overtime of unused time-outs. (FOUR (4) time-outs allowed for the Championship games). 

6. Overtime periods (if necessary) will be two (2) minutes each. Only one (1) time-out will be allowed per each team during each overtime period. 

VARSITY DIVISION

(8TH GRADE & UNDER)

1. All games will consist of four (4) seven minute quarters; clock will stop for held balls, fouls, time-outs, or at time when designated by the officials. 

2. Pressing is allowed at anytime during the game. Coaches are asked to use good judgment and common sense. No pressing with a 15 point or greater lead. 

JUNIOR VARSITY DIVISION

(6TH GRADE & UNDER)

1. All games will consist of four (4) seven minute quarters; clock will stop for held balls, fouls, time-outs, or at time when designated by the officials. 

2. BACK COURT PRESS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE LAST TWO (2) MINUTES OF EACH HALF AND DURING THE OVERTIME PERIOD(S) (IF NECESSARY). 

Teams with a 10 point lead will not be allowed to press during this 2 minute period. 

NOTE: The game will not be interrupted when the two (2) minute mark is reached. No advancement can be made into the back court by the defense until EXACTLY two minutes are displayed on the clock. 

OTHER THAN THE FINAL TWO (2) MINUTES OF EACH HALF, THE FOLLOWING BACK COURT RULE WILL APPLY:  Defense must be played behind the half court line.  When offensive team has possession of the ball and a rebound is recovered by the defensive team, the former offensive team must return down court behind the half court line, assuming a defensive role. Officials will determine that a player has full possession of the ball upon re-bounding and full court pressure must immediately cease. 

JJV DIVISION

(4TH GRADE & UNDER)

1. All games will consist of four (4) seven minute quarters; clock will stop for held balls, fouls, time-outs, or at time when designated by the officials. 

2. BACK COURT PRESS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AT ANY POINT DURING THE GAME. 

Defense must be played behind the half court line. 

When offensive team has possession of the ball and a rebound is recovered by the defensive team, the former offensive team must return down court behind the half court line, assuming a defensive role.
