Lesson for Lesson Mission:
Fatima and DIG USA have so much in common. Service. Fatima is proud to sponsor DIG USA's Lesson for Lesson efforts in Norwalk. Read further to understand how we both value and live 'Service Above Self'.
Part of DIG's mission is to spread chess education to children who cannot otherwise afford it. One way they achieve this is through free clubs. Everyone is welcome to join these clubs, especially if they would like to come help teach beginner students. You are also welcome to just come get extra practice and make friends as well.
The OLF chess team sponsors a club at the South Norwalk library. Coach Erin teaches there every Thursday from 3:30-5:00. One of the aims is to be a consistent place for the kids, so they are meeting even more weeks than Fatima. Any Fatima students who would like to come help teach a beginner student would be appreciated. So far they have had a cumulative attendance of 147 over 14 weeks. And one of our students was featured in the Norwalk Hour: https://www.thehour.com/news/article/After-life-moves-the-pieces-a-chess-enthusiast-13473067.php
The North Bridgeport club is sponsored by the Weston library club. Coach Erin will also be running that club next semester. They will meet Saturdays 11:00-1:00 at the North Bridgeport branch library starting Feb 9th.
The Hartford club is sponsored by the Weston library club and the new Wethersfield club. Coach Erin teaches there when she can. A few weeks ago I brought two South Norwalk players who wanted to train with the older Hartford team. They had a blast. Hartford meets Wednesdays 6:00-8:30 at the Wilson-Gray YMCA.
