Dear Fatima Parents,
I have some important school news to share!
SPRING FUNDRAISING EVENT:
It is getting closer: the Fatima school community plans to celebrate this historic school year with an in-person, parent-only Luau Pig Roast next Saturday Night, May 22nd from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This event will take place outside behind the school. Food, beverages, and a signature cocktail will be provided for the price of admission of $75. So come and enjoy the evening with other Fatima parents and wear your best Hawaiian clothes! Here is the Link and it is not too late to register:
TUITION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE:
The primary tuition assistance available for families with economic stress during the pandemic is through the Bishop Scholarship Program. Their awards were announced last week. If there is any family still in need of financial assistance, you can still apply to the School/Parish Tuition Assistance Program. The link to the form is attached and please return it to the office by next Friday, May 21st.
FATIMA UNITES TO SUPPORT THE ZMEK FAMILY:
As many of you already know, Mrs. Pam Zmek’s husband was recently diagnosed with cancer. We are all praying for a complete recovery. In addition, to support the Zmek family during this challenging time, Jess and Wesley Bydlak have set up a calendar to volunteer to provide the Zmek family with a dinner during the month of May. Dinners can be dropped off at school during morning drop-off or afternoon dismissal. This is a concrete way to be of support for Mrs. Zmek and her family during this challenging time.
11:30 A.M. DISMISSAL ON JUNE 15/16/17th
This year we will have 11:30 a.m. dismissals on June 15, June 16, and June 17th. This will allow for end-of-the-year teacher meetings. The Board voted that we would still have 180 days of instruction in this most unusual year. Wilton Public Schools decided to have 177 days of instruction and are ending on June 9th.
THE FAVORITE CLASS I VISITED THIS WEEK:
6th grade recess. The 6th-graders play a game at recess, brought by Charlie, called “Wolf Tag.” It is a game that rewards foot speed, agility, and flexibility. The 6th- graders play it in teams so it also rewards strategy, teamwork, and planning. It is amazing to watch the 6th-graders “hunt” in their teams across the recess field.
SUMMER PROGRAM FOR PRIMARY GRADES:
We are excited to be offering a summer program again this year for primary grade students (students this year in Pre-K, K, and 1st.). It is not too late to sign up for this great program. The program will run five days a week 8-5 from June 21st to August 20. The headteachers will be Ms. Trani, Miss Katelyn, and Miss Mariah. Please find attached the application with additional information.
8TH-GRADERS RESUME FLAG DUTIES:
As we return to the “new normal,” 8th-graders have resumed their role of raising and lowering the flag each day. Thank you, 8th-graders!
LAST RECYCLING EVENT :
Laurie Vallerie will be leading the last monthly recycling event on Saturday, May 29 between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in front of the school. Please continue to support this school fundraising activity.
21/22 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR APPROVED BY THE BOARD:
At Tuesday’s Board Meeting, the Board approved the 2021/2022 school calendar. Please see attached and take note that the first day of school is August 30 and due to the teachers’ Convocation, the first two days have 11:30 dismissal.

National Teacher Appreciation was the first week in May and you did a wonderful job recognizing our teachers. I would like to add my own recognition of our teachers and staff. In this year of the pandemic, our teachers and staff on a daily basis put their own health at risk by providing in-person education to your children. While most of the world was locked down and working from home; Fatima’s teachers were here every day in person during a life-threatening and scary pandemic. We cannot thank our teachers and staff enough for this bravery and commitment during this unprecedented year! Bravo! Well Done! This year will not be forgotten!
