Dear Fatima Parents,
This has been a busy few first weeks of school. The Big news is that we have just completed our fourth week of in-person education. Wow! That by itself is an accomplishment in this historic time of the pandemic. Thank you for everyone's assistance in making this happen. We cannot do it without your daily help.
This will be a school year with many "firsts!" Last Thursday evening we had our first Virtual School Open House. You are our most important partners in the education of your child or children. We thank you for taking the time to join us virtually for this event, for your questions, and for your daily support of education in our school. I have always felt that parent commitment in creating a positive educational environment and atmosphere is critical for each child's academic success.
Another addition to our list of "Firsts" for this school year. While the Diocese has cleared cross-country as a "low risk" sport; there are no official league meets scheduled this year. Not to be disheartened, our two amazing coaches, Amber Pace and Joanne Salageanu, are planning to offer an abbreviated cross-country practice schedule in October. They plan to offer practice 3:00 to 4:00 for 5th and 6th-graders on Tuesdays; and practice 3:00 to 4:00 on Fridays for 7th and 8th-graders on Fridays. Safety procedures will be followed and more information will be sent to you. All 5th through 8th-grade students are invited to join and no special running talent is needed to be on the team. Thank you, Amber and Joanne!
This year we will have our middle school student-government elections on Monday. New this year, the candidates' speeches will take place outside and the middle school will be sitting socially distant on their beach towels.
We need to have your emergency contact information on file in the school. Please find below the link to this short but important form. Please have your child return it to their homeroom teacher or email Ms. Stephanie at [email protected].
Mr. Bob Riccio, Fatima alumni and local guitar teacher, visited our music classes on Tuesday and Wednesday to introduce the students to learn to play the guitar. Mr. Bob set-up in front of the school and used an amplifier to highlight his beautiful playing. The kids sat on chairs in a circle around him. We are so fortunate to be able to offer guitar lessons for K-8 students through Mr. Bob during school day and lessons will begin on October 5th. Here is the link for more information:
In the past, we felt comfortable with the understanding that if you wanted to keep your child's photo out of any picture released for social media, we would have your Media Release Form on file indicating this. This year with our large number of new students and families we want to have a Media Release on file for ALL STUDENTS. Please print out the Media Release Form below and return it to your child's homeroom teacher. Our Marketing Committee has had several events that they wanted to put on social media, but we did not post any pictures until we are sure of your wishes. Please help us by returning the Media Release form on Monday.
A reminder that Wednesday evening is the cut-off to order pizza for that Friday. This is of great help to both us and Leitizia's Pizza.
Mr. Mark Alexander. In the historic time of the pandemic, the importance of daily cleaning cannot be overly emphasized. Mr. Mark has a daily punch list that includes cleaning the bathrooms twice during the day, spraying the playgrounds daily, and cleaning door handles and sanitizing playground balls. In addition, Mr. Mark responds to all the other needs of our school. In all these duties, Mr. Mark is diligent, responsible, and self-motivated. Thank-you, Mr. Mark!
